Turtle Pen Guide

TURTLE PEN FEATURE GUIDE

If you like turtles, then you gotta check out the newest Turtle Pen!

Note: The Turtle Pen won’t store any turtles from previous LE and past pet features.

If you are unable to locate the Turtle Pen, check for it in your Gift Box or purchase it in the Market for 5 Coins. Players will need to be at a level 5 to access this pen.

PLACING THE TURTLE PEN

A Green illumination around the Turtle Pen will glow over open placement areas on your farm.

You can have multiple Turtle Pens on each Farm (Home, English Countryside, Lighthouse Cove, Winter Wonderland Hawaiian Paradise and Jade Falls). You can only build one Turtle Pen at a time.

Once you successfully place your building, you will see the following options:
  • Looking inside – View your progress
  • Ask for Parts - Send the request for help directly to your friends
  • Complete now - Quickly finish the Turtle Pen with Farm Cash
  • Move – Rearrange your Turtle Pen on your farm
  • Sell – Sell your Turtle Pen

LOOKING INSIDE THE TURTLE PEN

The Turtle Pen has three building stages. To complete the stages, simply collect Turtle Pen Parts. Each stage expands the capacity of turtles the pen can hold. There are no physical changes when expanding the Turtle Pen.

There are three types of building Parts: Java Fern, Drift Wood, and Potting Soil. All three items can be received as free gifts from your Neighbors or purchased for Farm Cash.

There are 4 different ways to collect Turtle Pen parts:
  • Ask for More– Send requests for Parts to any friend
  • Ask – Post on your Facebook page for help
  • Send Parts– Send parts to your friends from the Free Gifts Tab (page 9) or from the Turtle Pen Menu. They will give you one in return.
  • Buy Parts – Buy each part individually with Farm Cash
  • Complete Now– Use Farm Cash to immediately complete
  • Click on a feed that is giving out Turtle Pen Parts.

When you completed the Turtle Pen, you will get rewarded a Navy Fushia Spotted turtle that will be immediately stored in your pen.

Don’t forget to share the news AND some Turtle Pen parts with your friends!!!!!

TURTLE PEN BREEDING

Breeding works by pairing together two turtles (the genders of the turtles aren’t distinguished in the Turtle Breeding Pen—they can all breed with each other.) The result will hopefully be a baby turtle, which once fully grown will take on some combination of characteristics (shell design, design color, and shell color) from both parents.

When you complete your Turtle Pen, you will receive one free turtle to place in your pen. However, turtles get lonely and don’t breed with themselves, so purchase some more turtles to place into the pen. You can do this either by clicking the “Collections” tab in your Pen, or finding the turtles in the Market. Please note that the only turtles in the Market that you can store and breed in your Turtle Pen have “Turtle Pen” written on their Market Card:

Now select the turtles you want to breed. If you click on a turtle you’ll see you have the option to Breed it, or Remove it from the Turtle Pen (click on the X to close this pop-up).

After clicking on Breed, you can select the other turtle you want to breed this turtle with.

Selecting another turtle will give you the same options as above, so just select Breed again. Now you’ll see the breeding display, including a thought bubble above the parent turtles' heads with what their possible offspring could look like:

Breeding a new turtle is a 24 hour process and carries (by default) a 50% success rate, meaning if you’re not successful you have to start all over again. You can improve your chance of success (while decreasing the amount of time it takes to breed) by using Love Potions. You can acquire Love Potions by:
  • Buying them via the Buy Potions button in the Turtle Pen window.
  • Asking your neighbors for Love Potions via the Ask for Potions button in the Turtle Pen window.

Here’s the impact of using Love Potions:
  • No Love Potions used: 50% success rate, breed time: 24 hours
  • 1 Love Potion used: 60% success rate, breed time: 12 hours
  • 2 Love Potions used: 70% success rate, breed time: 6 hours
  • 3 Love Potions used: 80% success rate, breed time: 3 hours
  • 4 Love Potions used: 90% success rate, breed time: 1 hour
  • 5 Love Potions used: 100% success rate, breed time: instant

You can use the up and down arrows to choose how many Love Potions you want to spend. If you don’t have enough, you’ll be prompted to buy more. When you’re satisfied with your chances, click on Breed (or Cancel if you don’t want to try breeding at this time). You may have to wait a few seconds…

While the turtles are…doing their thing:

You’ll see the stall at the upper left is occupied and their places in the Turtle Pen are replaced with helpful signs. If there’s a timer, a clock in the stall will show how much time is left to go. If they’re done (or you used instant breeding), the Ready! button will show up over the stall. Click on it.

With any luck, you’ve bred a new baby turtle! You can choose to Give Away your turtle (this will make a post to your feed) or you can keep it. At this moment, you still don’t know how the turtle will turn out—you’ll need to grow it up. Once you click on “Keep Turtle” you’ll get the option to place it on your farm.

Click anywhere on your farm to place it. You can click on the turtle at any time to get a menu of options:

A turtle can be fully grown using 10 Baby Bottles. You can acquire or give Baby Bottles by:
  • Asking your neighbors directly by clicking on “Ask for Bottles”
  • Purchasing Bottles in the Market for 1 Farm Cash each
  • Acquire all the needed Bottles by spending Farm Cash (click on the “Complete Now” button to purchase the remaining Bottles). The Cost is X Farm Cash, where X is the number of Bottles needed to grow the Turtle.
  • Gifting the bottles via the Free Gifts page.

Selecting Feed Bottles will give a Bottle to the baby turtle. Once you’ve applied 10 Bottles the baby turtle will now grow up into a full grown turtle.

LOOKING INSIDE COLLECTIONS

Under the “Collections” Tab in the Turtle Breeding Pen, you can see all of the different color and pattern varietals that the breedable turtles come in. Each “Collection” of turtles is named after either the pattern all those turtles have in common, or the color combination they possess. For example:
  • The “Zap” Collection is comprised of turtles with a Lightning Bolt pattern on their shells.
  • The “Earth” Collection is comprised of blue turtles with a green pattern (like the earth.)

You can browse these collections to choose the turtles you want to buy to breed. Each turtle costs 20 FC, regardless or pattern or color. Click on the name of the Collection that you want to display. The turtles in that collection will show in the window below the Collections signs.

TRADING IN COLLECTIONS FOR NEW TURTLES

There are several turtles in each collection. Once you complete a collection (meaning you get at least one of each turtle in that collection, either by purchasing it in the Market, purchasing it through the Collections tab using Farm Cash, or adopting it from a friend who is sharing turtles), you will have the option to release your turtles back into the wild in exchange for a new type of turtle, which you can breed with other turtles in your pen to get even more varieties of turtles. You can see which turtles you’ve collected in a collection and the turtle you can trade your collection in for at the bottom of the Turtle Pen Collections window:

The more turtles you breed with distinctive varieties, the more collections you can complete and the more turtles you can unlock. Please note that many turtles appear in more than one collection. When you have one of these turtles, it counts for either collection.

You can see the turtles you can unlock for each collection, as well as your progress toward that turtle, in the Collections window:

PLEASE NOTE: The mastery sign for turtles you master through this breeding pen will appear the same no matter which pattern of turtle you master. Also, the turtle in the popup acknowledging that you have grown your turtle to maturity might appear different than the turtle that you mastered. Again, this is expected and not a bug.

We hope you enjoy breeding your turtles! Happy Farming!
