Angler’s Pond Guide
Need a break from farming? Why not make a quick jaunt over to Angler’s Pond? It’s a fun fishing mini-game in FarmVille that allows you to catch and collect and master fish! Check it out at the edge of your Farm!
Traveling to Angler’s Pond
Getting to Angler’s Pond
To travel to Angler’s Pond, simply pan out of your Home Farm and click on the pond on the left edge of your Farm:
Once you arrive at Angler’s Pond for the first time, Jesse will walk you through the basics of Fishing. You can get back to Angler’s Pond at any time the same way—just click the Pond!
Getting Back Home
To go back to your Home Farm, just click the “Home” button in the upper right-hand corner of your screen:
How to Fish
To be able to fish in Angler’s Pond, you’ll need to have a Fishing Rod and Bait. On your first visit to Angler’s Pond, you’ll already have these ready to go (and there will be more information on how to get more later in this guide.) To cast your line, simply hover your mouse over the Pond. The bobber will glow, letting you know you are ready. Click once to cast!
Reeling in a Fish
Once you’ve cast your line, you’ll be ready to reel in a fish! After you click to cast your line, you will see a popup with a dial and a countdown. The dial has a needle that moves back and forth while the countdown ticks down to zero. At the end of the countdown, you’ll see one of two popups letting you know whether or not you caught a fish:
Increasing Your Chances of Getting a Bonus
During the countdown, click as many times as you can when the needle hovers within the green area on the dial to increase your chance of earning a bonus! The bonus will often be bait you can use to fish even more.
Gaining Mastery Points
You get Mastery Points toward each fish every time you catch one. So for example, for every Carp that you catch, you’ll earn +1 Carp Mastery Point. Once you’ve mastered a type of Fish to 3 Stars, you’ll get a Mastery Sign for your trouble (PLEASE NOTE: At this time, Angler’s Pond Fish Mastery Signs do NOT go into the Animal Mastery Billboard.) Find it in your Gift Box!
The Tackle Box
Every good Angler has a well-appointed Tackle Box. Look in yours to see what kinds of equipment you have available to use, or to switch out Bait, Rods, or Extra Items.
Finding the Tackle Box
You can see an at-a-glance view of what’s in your Tackle Box on the right-hand side of the Angler’s Pond screen:
Mouse over this icon to see a drop-down menu of your active Rod, Bait, and Extras.
To see a more comprehensive view of your Tackle Box, click the “Tackle Box” button on the drop-down menu.
From inside your Tackle Box, you can:
- Change the Rods, Bait, or Extras you’re using
- See which Rods, Bait, and Extras you have in your Inventory
- Go to the Bait Shop to buy more Tackle
Equipping Yourself to Fish
There are three types of items you can find in your Tackle Box. Each one does something different toward helping you catch and master Fish!
- Rods: Fishing Rods are essential—you won’t be able to cast without one! You’ll start out at Angler’s Pond with a Basic Rod. To unlock the other Collections of fish varieties, you’ll need more specialized rods (for example, to catch fish in the Trout collection, you’ll need the Trout Rod), which you can buy in the Bait Shop.
- Bait: You will also need Bait to catch fish. You’ll start out at Angler’s Pond with a few good old Worms in your Tackle Box, but you can upgrade to Marshmallows or Minnows, which increase your chances of catching a Fish!
- Extras: If you really want to go pro with your Angling, you can purchase a Fish Finder. The one-time use item, when applied, increases your chance of catching a Fish on that catch to 100%!
NOTE: Worms regenerate!!! 1 cast per 10 minute!!!
To equip yourself with any of the items in your Tackle Box, simply open it and click the green “Use” button below any of the items you wish to use:
You can equip yourself with one Rod, type of Bait, and Extra at a time.
The Bait Shop
To expand your inventory of Tackle, visit the Bait Shop! It’s got everything you need to reel in some major Angling cred.
Finding the Bait Shop
You can find the Bait Shop sitting on the edge of Angler’s Pond. It’s the white clapboard building with fishing lures on it:
Buying Tackle
Look inside the Bait Shop to see all the Tackle available to purchase. Note: The Bait Shop is the only place where you can buy items for Angler’s Pond. They are not available in the Market! You can also access the Bait Shop from your Tackle Box by clicking the green “Bait Shop” button.
The Fishing Lodge
Check out the Fishing Lodge to see the fish you’ve already caught, your Mastery progress, and the other fish you have left to go!
Finding the Fishing Lodge
Find the Fishing Lodge next to the Bait Shop. It’s the brown cabin next to Angler’s Pond:
Collections
Look inside the Fishing Lodge to see the different Collections of Fish in Angler’s Pond. There are five different collections:
- The Basic Collection
- The Trout Collection
- The Bass Collection
- The Salmon Collection
- The Boot Collection
Click on the tabs at the top of the Fishing Lodge window to see which fish are in the different collections.
Completing Collections
There are 8 Fish in each collection, and some are more common than others. Catch and master all fishes and boots from all Collections, and you’ll earn a special, EXCLUSIVE prize! Please note that you can also purchase each type of Fish for Farm Cash!
The Boot Collection
Ever think you have a nibble but it turns out to be an old, nasty Boot? Don’t you hate that?
You can unlock the Boot Collection once you’ve completed all the Fish Collections (Basic, Trout, Bass, and Salmon.) In addition, get an exclusive prize once you complete finish mastering all boots in this special collection, so go see what it’s all a-BOOT!
Getting More Information About Fish
You can also learn more about each type of Fish in Angler’s Pond by hovering your mouse over the question mark next to each Fish image in the Fishing lodge. Do this to see a bit of text with some fun fish facts!
