Facebook Ticker Guide!

Hey, Famers!

We have a new feature coming to FarmVille that will automatically let your friends know when they’ve helped you out, and let you collect more Special Delivery Boxes (SDB)!

WHAT’S A FACEBOOK TICKER?

The Facebook Ticker is the feature where you get live news, status and game updates. You can find the Ticker on News Feed section of your Facebook account. It’s on the right corner and it scrolls quick. This feature is similar to how Facebook News Feed works; only you get updates faster on the Ticker.

With the Facebook Ticker, now you and your friends get live game updates and get more Special Delivery Boxes.

FARMVILLE AND THE TICKER

What events will be published in the Ticker?
  • Harvesting Animals: When you harvest the first 10 animals of the day, the Ticker will publish the event to your friends. The Ticker will not publish your animal harvest after the 10th animal. After 24 hours, the Ticker will allow you to publish 10 more animal harvests. If you harvest an animal pen, and if you have more than 10 animals, the Ticker will publish 10 random animals. If you have less than 10 animals in a pen, all animal harvests will be published in the Ticker. If you use Farm Hand, and if you have more than 10 animals, the Ticker will publish 10 random animals. If you have less than 10 animals and if you use Farm Hand, all animal harvests will be published in the Ticker.
  • Getting a Bushel: When you get the first 10 bushels of the day, the Ticker will publish the event to your friends. The Ticker will not publish your bushel production after the 10th bushel. After 24 hours, the Ticker will allow you to publish 10 more animal harvests.
  • Claiming an item from the News Feed: When you claim 10 items from your Facebook News Feed or from your friends Facebook page, the Ticker will publish the event to your friends. The Ticker will not publish other items after the 10th claim.

If you got an item from a friend’s feed post, or got bushels from a friend, that friend will also be tagged in the story. Now you’ll be able to know which of your friends you were able to help out!

How do you view your friend’s FarmVille events on the Ticker?

When your friends harvest their first 10 animals, produce10 bushels, and claim 10 items, you should get their events updated in the Ticker.

To view the complete event, mouse over the story. A dialog will pop up that will look similar to a normal Facebook Feed. See image below.

In the popup, there are several things you can do:
  • Like” the story
  • Comment on the story
  • Click on FarmVille: You’ll receive a Special Delivery Box when you click on FarmVille. Up to 4 different people can click on this link and receive an SDB.

What?!? Special Delivery Boxes?

YES! Every time you click on a FarmVille event in the Ticker, you’ll receive an SDB. So if you see your friend harvest 10 animals, produce 10 bushels and claim 10 items on the Ticker and if you click on “FarmVille” on all 30 events, you can get 30 Special Delivery Boxes!

Alternatives viewing events from the Ticker

There are other ways to get Special Delivery Boxes and see the your friends’ activity on FarmVille without using the Ticker. Simply go to your friends’ Facebook Page. Click to extend their Navigation Bar. Then click on the FarmVille Tab. Another way is to check out their “Recent Activity” section.

Note: Your friends must be on Facebook’s Timeline in order to access the alternatives.

HOW TO OPT OUT

If you don’t want to publish these stories to the ticker, or if you don’t want to let your friends tag you when you’ve helped them out, just follow these simple steps to remove yourself from the feature:
  • On Facebook, go to the top right and click on ‘Account Settings’
  • On the left side menu, select ‘Apps’
  • From the list, find FarmVille and click ‘Edit’
  • Click ‘Remove’ on the item that says ‘Post on your behalf’

Please note that removing this permission will also remove one click posting, which means that you will see the Facebook confirmation window whenever you post a feed.
