Quaking Mine is one of the first Expeditions to utilize multi-colored skulls as a puzzle. You must activite them in a specific order or lose energy. These patterns do not change so knowing the order in advance can save you quite a few clicks.
The Minecart Valet quest does require 10 Feed items to complete.

SECTION A
Time to move some Minecarts. It takes 3 clicks to get the [A] Minecart to the end. Grab the 2 Jade Vases and then repeat on the second Minecart [B]. This will open the Minecart Valet quest. Immediately go into the quest screen and Feed Request the 10 Flashlight Bulbs you need to complete the quest. Hopefully you have some vigilante friends as this Expedition does not take that long.
SECTION B
Time to break up some Suspicious Rocks so we can clear these Spike Traps. First off eliminate the Biting Spider (Level 16, 6 HP) [A]. This is a good time to use a Friend Hire as the Spider is a two hit kill even with a top level Whip.
Then break up the Crystal Formation and the Mushroom Colony to gain access to all 3 Suspicious Rocks [B]. Ignore the standard Rock. After using the Machete to expose the Switches, flip all three.
Expose and activate the new Spear Trap Switch [C]. Grab the Quaking Earth Idol [D]. This makes the center Minecart collapse allowing you to stand in the middle [E]. It takes 1 energy each to push the 2 Minecarts to the left and right. Then grab the Jade and Ruby Vases this exposes.
SECTION C
Time to use some Gadgets. First off there are several spiders in this area [A]. 2x Biting Spiders (Level 16, HP 6) which I suggest you take care of right away with Friend Hire (2 & 3) one in the area with the Giant Crystals and another near the last Minecart. There is also a Queen Spider (lvl 16, HP 10) to take care of with Friend Hire (4). If you are short on Friend Hires then I suggest you use Friends for the Queen as it requires the most hits and can cost you the most energy.
Use a Grappling Hook (1000 coins) to get to the first Giant Crystal [B]. They have 6 HP each.
Then head down to the bottom of the area and grab the 2x Jade Vases and the Azure Skull [C].
Then take out the second Giant Crystal (6 HP) [D].
Now we use Dynamite (1000 coins), then a Mushroom Colony to get to the final Giant Crystal [E].
SECTION D
It takes 6 Energy to get the final Minecart down to the end. You do NOT need to clear the Mushrooms to see the order. It is always the same.
1- Red Skull Pedestal
2- Purple Skull Pedestal
3- Yellow Skull Pedestal
4- Green Skull Pedestal
5- Blue Skull Pedestal
After you do that grab the 2x Jade Skulls and the Ruby Skull and you've completed the Expedition.
STATISTICAL LOOK
Quaking Mine requires 1300 Supplies with a cost of 2275 coins (based on 4 Hour Trader). It requires 2 Gadgets for a total cost of 4275 coins.
My Coin Reward for my optimal run through was 4819 based on the 5 Star 3200 bonus for +544 coins.
My run required 37 Energy
The 5 Star Master Resource reward is 50 Water minus the 15 Starting Resources is a net gain of 35 Resources for a 0.95 Resource per Energy Spent.
The XP Reward was 601 for a 16.24 XP per Energy Spent.
