Hello Citizens!
Halloween is around the corner! I hope you’ve got your costumes ready, and more importantly… your CITIES! Introducing, the spookiest CityVille contest yet! Do you have what it takes to win?
We’re pulling out all the stops with this event, so bring your “A” game and prepare for the BIGGEST CityVille Halloween Contest EVER! You’ve already shown us how awesome your cities can be; now we want you to create the greatest, scariest, and most unique Halloween scenes possible!
There isn’t just one round, there are THREE! And there aren’t just 3 sets of prizes, there are FOUR!
You heard us: Three rounds, three Halloween themes, three winners per round, and ONE Grand Prize!
The finalists of each round will be voted on by YOU, our community. After all three themed rounds have been completed, all 9 winners of the themed rounds will be put into the final poll, and you will vote once more for the GRAND Prize winner!
We understand that this is a fairly complicated-sounding contest, stop by our discussion thread to ask any questions that you may have!
The Halloween Themes
- Classic Halloween <--- This round is open for submissions until October 20th!
- Enchanted Forest
- Swamp
The Goal: Set the scene for each theme in your city, use up to 6 expansions worth of space. All entries should embody the spirit of Halloween and represent each theme however you see fit!
You must also include some Halloween themed items in your entry, but use anything in the game that works for you too!

The Winners:
The top 3 winners from each round are automatically qualified for the Grand Prize round! In addition to the themed round prizes, all 9 will be eligible to win the Grand Prize in the final showdown.
Round winners, we encourage you to keep decorating your city before the Grand Prize round! Submit your updated cities before the final vote, or we will use your themed round entries!

All entries must be posted by 12pm PST GMT -8 on the date listed below for each round

Contest Rules
- All backyard entries must be 864 spaces or less. This is the equivalent of 6 expansions.
- Entries must include a screenshot of your Halloween entry and the total dimensions and spaces used. (i.e. 24 x 24 576 total spaces)
- Entries must be posted in the [entry thread] by MM DD YYYY TTTTpm PST GMT -8
- Only ONE entry per round, per person.
- Entry must be your own city.
- Once posted, entries cannot be modified or deleted.
- Entries that are not posted in the entry thread (i.e. sent by email or PM) will not be considered.
- This contest is open to CityVille users that have an account in good standing with Zynga who enter to participate.
- Do not post negative comments about other contest entries. Doing so may result in the disqualification of your entry
- By entering, you will be indicating that Zynga has permission to announce your name if you are chosen as the winner.
- Once submitted, all entries become the sole property of Zynga.
- Adherence to the Zynga Terms of Service is a requirement.
- Collection and use of user information governed by Zynga’s Privacy Policy.
- No purchase necessary. Making a purchase will not increase your chances of winning. Void where prohibited.
- You can’t win more than 1 themed round.
- The top 3 winners from each themed round are automatically entered in the Final grand prize round
- All 9 participants in the final round are encouraged to send an updated entry for the final vote
- Grand Prize participants who do not submit an updated agree that their original entries will be used in the final vote
Guidelines
Judgment Criteria:
A total of 15 points is possible; points will be awarded based on the following criteria:
- Originality: up to 5 points
- Theme: up to 5 points
- Presentation: up to 5 points
We will announce the winners on the forums by their forum nicknames. Winners will receive a Private Message from a member of the CityVille Community Team. Players must provide FB UID via Private Message for prize awarding process.
The top 3 winners from each themed round will progress to the final round. Winners, you should plan to redesign for the final round!
How To Enter
Follow the contest thread here to find out what the theme is for each week. Entries must be received by the times listed above to be eligible for that week’s contest.
- Take a Screenshot
- Press Control + V to paste it into MSPaint (or a similar program)
- Resize if needed, but make that sure we can see where your entry is!
- Make sure to count your space usage, you can use less than 864 but not more
- Save your image as a JPEG or PNG
- Upload it (will include link to official image uploading guide)
- Post the link to your image in this thread
More on Size Constraints
As mentioned, all entries can use a maximum of 6 expansions (864 spaces), but the exact dimensions are your choice. This means that your backyard must be 6 expansions or smaller in order to be counted.
If your decorations aren’t within the space, they won’t count. Only items within the size constraints will be counted
The exact shape is your choice, as long as it has the same area: 6 expansions MAXIMUM
