You can make decent progress on your own in Empires & Allies, but to really grow, you need a little help from your Friends. In Empires & Allies, there are many ways Friends can help you grow and expand your Empire. This includes sending gifts, having Markets where you can buy and sell resources, building your reputation, and helping each other with some of the work that goes with running an Empire.

You can ask Friends in your ladder for Metal. This is one of many ways you can get Ore that you cannot produce yourself.
You can go to your Friends’ Empires and help them out with some of their work. To do this click on the Visit button. When you visit a friend, you receive a small gift of energy and have five energy to use on your Friend’s island to do work for them.

One of the most rewarding elements of playing with your friends is the reputation system. There are two kinds of reputation you can earn. The first kind is Honor, which appears in reward drops as a red heart.
Honor is gained from helping friends’ Empires by harvesting crops, helping them speed up buildings, and anything else you do to help. The second kind of reputation is Infamy, which appears in reward drops as a black heart.
Infamy is earned by invading your friends’ empires. As you level up in Honor and Infamy, you gain free Powerups, which you can use during Campaign play.
Finally, you can invade any of your Friends in the Neighbors ladder. Invading Friends runs the risk of losing units, but successful invasions give huge rewards and increase your Infamy. To do this click on the Invade button. You cannot invade any Friends who currently have Immunity active or are below Level 6.
To add Friends to your ladder, click Invite Friends and then choose which Friends you want to add.
